The decision to impose digital attendance of teachers of council schools in the state has been postponed till further orders. This decision has been taken after the discussion of teacher organizations with Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on Tuesday. At the same time, an expert committee will also be formed to listen to the problems and suggestions of teachers and find solutions. Which will consider all the dimensions and give its suggestions for improvement in it.

Recently, the Basic Education Department issued an order that digital attendance of teachers of council schools will be taken from July 8. Along with this, a dozen registers of schools will also be updated digitally. Teachers opposed this decision and started dharna-demonstration and protest in the entire state from July 8. On Monday also, teachers demonstrated at the district headquarters and BSA offices in the entire state and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister.

On the other hand, after the postponement of the talks with the Director General of School Education, on Tuesday, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh called the teachers’ organizations to Lok Bhawan for talks. The state president of Uttar Pradesh Primary Teachers’ Association Dr. Dinesh Chandra Sharma, the state president of Uttar Pradesh Women Teachers’ Association Sulochana Maurya, the provincial president of Uttar Pradesh Junior High School (Pre-Secondary) Teachers’ Association Apoorv Dixit etc. participated in it. In the talks, along with practical problems, teachers raised the demand of 31 EL, half day, medical facility, not considering absent if the teacher comes five days late, not taking data entry work from the teacher, implementing digital attendance in departmental offices.

In view of the difficulties faced by teachers, the Chief Secretary said that digital attendance should be postponed till further orders. Along with this, it was decided to constitute an expert committee to listen to the problems and suggestions of teachers. This committee will give its report after listening to the problems and suggestions of teachers. He said that this committee will include education department officials, teachers’ union representatives, educationists. The committee will consider all dimensions and give its suggestions for improvement. A decision will be taken on the basis of the committee’s report. Additional Chief Secretary of Secondary Education Department Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary of Basic Education Department Dr. Shamuga Sundaram, Director General School Education Kanchan Verma and other officials were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Yogi had given instructions to find a solution through dialogue

To remove the displeasure of teachers regarding digital attendance, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had instructed all DMs, Basic Education Officer (BSA) and Assistant Basic Education Officer (ABSA) to communicate with teachers and teacher representatives a day earlier. He had also said that it should also be ensured that teaching-learning continues smoothly in schools. Even before this, the CM had instructed the departmental officials to talk to the teachers and find a solution. Instructions were given to put digital attendance of teachers in council schools from July 8. Teachers were agitating for the last one week regarding this. On Monday also, they demonstrated in every district and sent a memorandum addressed to the CM.
